On August 15, 2011, Google announced the acquisition of Motorola Mobility, an Android partner. What does that have to do with Marketing and Social Media?
Well, one giant company purchasing another makes big news no matter which companies they are, but the Google-Motorola purchase could have ramifications for so many channels, including:
- mobile and tablet hardware manufacturing
- Android operating system
- mobile payment technology
- MotoSpeak (allows users to read texts through a hands-free device and lets you dictate a reply with your voice)
- Google TV (provides an easy and fast way to navigate to television channels, websites, apps, shows and movies)
- user experience
